The County Emergency Management Agency coordinates county emergency response when a disaster extends beyond the normal mutual aid boundaries of the affected community, or several communities. Damage assessment information and reporting forms are available by clicking on the subjects listed in the table at the bottom of this page.
The county EMA Director provides guidance, planning models, home study courses, and workshops on emergency management to the local communities and their own EMA staff. The Director also hosts periodic Local EMA Director Meetings to keep the local directors provided with up to date information. The EMA office staff is responsible for the maintaining and updating the County's All-Hazard Contingency Plan. The County Director is one of the few officials authorized to access the Emergency Alerting System. For more information on Emergency Management at the state level click on MEMA for their home page.

Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC)
The next meeting of the Knox County Local Emergency Planning Committee is scheduled for October 7 , 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Knox County EMA Office.
KNOX COUNTY LEPC - As always, this meeting is open to the public.
EMA Directors/EOC Staff
The next meeting for the Local EMA Directors and EOC Staff is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.at the Knox County EMA Office.
MEMA County Directors' Meeting
The next meeting for is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, October 15th and October 16th in Portland.
Community Animal Response Team (CART)
The next CART meeting for is scheduled for Monday, October 6, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. at the EMA office. If you are interested in becoming a member of CART, please call the EMA office at 594-5155 for more information or click on the CART Press Release which is a pdf file.
CONOPS Training is Available
There are instructors available to teach the Maine CONOPS to your department or agency. Te program is delivered in a flexible format using Maine developed video and on line tools in a concise 60 to 90 minute training package. Please contact the EMA office at 594-5155 for more information and registration. The course is also available online to agencies registered with JPMA by visiting their website at www.jpmaweb.com.
