Welcome to Knox County, Maine! Knox County consists of 18 municipalities including 5 island communities. Each is distinctive and offers visitors and residents unique experiences.

County government is Maine's oldest form of government and pre-dates the Declaration of Independence. The various departments provide a wide-range of services to the citizens of Knox County.

Department personnel also provide valuable education and information services to area schools, senior-centers, and other civic organizations. If your school or group is interested in learning more about Knox County government, or would like a speaker for an upcoming event, please contact our offices for assistance.

Our offices are located in the County Courthouse at 62 Union Street and are open for business from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The public is always welcome!
